I have a HP DC7700 desktop computer, with 4 ram slots. If ram is placed in first slot (It is a black slot from the factory) it is not recognized and the machine will not boot up with the slot filled. I can place 1 gig ram in the other 3 slots, and all are recognized, but machine runs very slowly, even though it is a 3.4 gig processor.
HP says ram must be placed in the first black slot, but it will not recognize same if put there and the machine fails to boot up even though the other 3 gig of ram is recognized when the first slot is not filled.
Could this slot be bad? If so, what are the recommendations from you concerning replacing this slot?

A) Slowly memory in blue, faster in black. B) NVRAM in blue, RAM in black; C) Put equal size/speed of RAM in the slots, so that each slot matches its paired slot color. I have 2x2gb sticks and the computer will not boot unless a specific stick is in the A1 dimm slot.
