I have a HP DC7700 desktop computer, with 4 ram slots. If ram is placed in first slot (It is a black slot from the factory) it is not recognized and the machine will not boot up with the slot filled. I can place 1 gig ram in the other 3 slots, and all are recognized, but machine runs very slowly, even though it is a 3.4 gig processor.
HP says ram must be placed in the first black slot, but it will not recognize same if put there and the machine fails to boot up even though the other 3 gig of ram is recognized when the first slot is not filled.
Could this slot be bad? If so, what are the recommendations from you concerning replacing this slot?
A) Slowly memory in blue, faster in black. B) NVRAM in blue, RAM in black; C) Put equal size/speed of RAM in the slots, so that each slot matches its paired slot color. D) Primary ram in blue, backup ram in black. Show Answer Next Question. Aug 21, 2010 RAM/Dimm slot issue. As the title suggest, my motherboard seems to have an issue reading memory. I have 2x2gb sticks and the computer will not boot unless a specific stick is in the A1 dimm slot. The computer refuses to boot if that same stick is in any other slot and when placed in the A2 slot a beep message. Hardware & Devices.
If this slot is replaced, would it be replacable with a normal slot as is the other slots?
